Amazon's latest Paperwhite brings a larger display, USB-C, and weeks of battery life.

✓ Pros

  • 7-inch display is perfect for reading
  • Warm light adjustment reduces eye strain
  • Waterproof (IPX8) — read in the bath
  • Weeks of battery life
  • USB-C charging

✗ Cons

  • No headphone jack or Bluetooth audio
  • Amazon's ecosystem is locked down
  • Page turns still have slight flash
  • Expensive for what it is

The Kindle Paperwhite is the Goldilocks of e-readers. Not too big, not too small, not too expensive. After a month of daily use, here’s my full review.

Display

The 7-inch, 300 PPI display is crisp and clear. Text looks like printed paper. The adjustable warm light lets you shift from cool blue to warm amber — great for nighttime reading without eye strain.

Battery Life

Amazon says “up to 10 weeks.” With 30 minutes of reading per day, I got about 8 weeks before needing a charge. Still outstanding.

Reading Experience

This is where Kindle shines. The e-ink display is easy on the eyes, the page turns are snappy enough, and the built-in dictionary, highlights, and notes work flawlessly.

What’s Missing

No Audible support, no expandable storage, and Amazon’s ecosystem is restrictive. If you buy into Kindle, you’re buying into Amazon for good.

Final Verdict

If you read books, buy a Kindle Paperwhite. It’s the best e-reader for the money. Period.
